Outdoor Room - Islington, London N1
This garden design was commissioned by a young professional male who works long hours, has a busy social life and no time for gardening!
Garden design
He requested a very low maintenance outdoor room in which to entertain friends and guests during the evening times and at weekends. The garden measured only 6 x 3.5 metres, so it was essential to maximize the outdoor living space.
Landscaping
We laid limestone outer edging and inset with Ipe hardwood decking to increase the sense of depth. The contemporary theme was continued by building square raised planters and rendering the old brick wall at the rear of the garden. We set a simple stainless steel feature, providing a central focal point and the peaceful sound of water cascading onto the pebbles below.
Planting design
A simple very low maintenance planting scheme was created using clipped box, trachycarpus, ligustrum, ferns and grasses.
