This modern garden design in Islington North London combines contemporary features with traditional materials. Patio doors open onto a lower hardwood (yellow balau) decked area with a matching underlit bench and rendered planter.

The garden steps up to a main patio built from reclaimed yorkstone to complement the existing architecture and stock brick walls. To the back is a new rendered wall with a hardwood seating area situated beneath attractively painted overhead beams (verte de terre by Farrow & Ball). The rendered and painted raised planters contain matching clipped box spheres (Buxus sempervirens), a beautiful Acer palmatum ‘Osakazuki’ provides seasonal interest slowly turning from pale green to brilliant red from spring through to autumn.
